 Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Above, I have embedded both our Preliminary Task and our Final media product; Since the start of the course, I have learnt a lot about the research, planning, shooting, editing and distribution/promotion, in which goes into creating a film. Below, I have bullet pointed issues with our preliminary task and the improvement and progression in our final film.

5) How did you attract/address your audience?

----> Character covered in blood. Sin city effect makes the blood stand out against the other black and white colors. This instantly draws the audience in to realizing this is not a normal black and white film because of the films post modern editing technique. It is popular within today's social groups i.e teenagers.

---->Attractive appearance and style. Attracts audience watching because they can imagine themselves wearing the same sort of clothing. Therefore making them want to carry on watching to find out what happens.

----> The P.O.V shot from the murderers perspective was a shot we had wanted to film right from when we were given this task. I believe it is great for horrors because it is giving the audience a big clue where and what the murderer is doing however it doesn't reveal what he/she looks like to the audience therefore still holds a surprise. By deliberately shaking the camera it gives of the effect that the murderer is running in a odd crazy way. This makes the character look crazier to the audience and if he is crazy then know one knows what he is capable of. This was recorded on an I phone so quality was not the best. However in this case we were not concerned about quality because we wanted the audience to see as little of the location as possible, keeping a sense of mystery on where he was running from.

Our risk assessment will cover the potential hazards and precautions/actions when filming and preparing for our opening sequence of hostility:

Treatment

Treatment for 'Hostility'

Hostility is a thriller/horror based production which is aimed at people 18+ who love being scared all over the united kingdom. The film is set on a variety of sinister streets and empty buildings. It will start with the introduction of jade graham, our naive and weak female character on her daily walk home, before stumbling into a vicous victor clarke mid-murder. The story will utilise quick shot-reverse shots to catch the intensity of the mood, with close-ups showing raw emotion.  

This production is a Psychological thriller which is aimed at young adults from 18+. The film will be set in an abandoned warehouse. It will start of with a medium shot of a isolated warehouse for about 20 seconds. This will then follow into a range of extreme close-ups of the 'killer' cutting out pictures of a person and crossing out names of his victims; however, we don't see the victims face, or body, you will only ever see the persons hands. This creates a sense of enigma within the  audience. These shots will carry on for about a 30 seconds and will be taken from varied angles with different effects to create a sense of fear. this will lead to a whip-pan, which will reveal a tilting movement unveiling a boy tied to a chair, not knowing what will happen, keeping the audience in suspense. the next shot is of the shadow of the killer moving towards his victim. To end the production there will be a loud screeching noise to introduce the credits.
